Treatex Bangkirai Oil - Weather Protection & UV Resistant Wood Finish

Treatex Bangkirai Oil is an external wood finish which provides long term protection from UV rays and weather damage. It is designed for use on timbers such as bangkirai, yellow balau, karri, massaranduba, iroko and ipe. The oil penetrates the surface of the timber attaching to the wood capillaries to provide hardwearing protection, making it ideal for decking, garden furniture and other exterior joinery.

Manufactured on a base of sustainable raw materials which include sunflower oil, safflower oil and soybean oil, Treatex Bangkirai Oil is the perfect choice for you and the environment.

Please be aware that Treatex Bangkirai oil is not suitable for tannin rich woods such as Oak. For timbers high in tannins, we recommend Treatex External Oak and Treatex External Oak Protection.

  • Ensure timber is dry and free from possible contaminants e.g. algae, grease, dust etc
  • Timber must have a moisture content below 18% and the ambient temperature must be between 8oC and 25oC whilst applying the oil and when drying. Moisture of the wood can be tested with a good wood moisture meter.
  • We strongly recommend that you try a test application prior to starting the project.

  • Use a brush or roller to apply Treatex Bankirai Oil thinly and evenly in the same direction as the wood grain.
  • Leave to dry for approximately 12 hours
  • Apply a second coat.
  • Leave for a further 12 hours to dry completely.

Insider Tips

  • Wet brushes can be cleaned with Treatex Thinner or white spirit
  • Store tins in a cool and frost free place. Unopened tins will last for five years. Once tins are opened, transfer contents to a smaller airtight container.
