Treatex External Oak is designed for use on unfinished timber. Previous finishes that will stop penetration or are flaking must be fully removed before application.
Surfaces should be sanded with 100-120 grit sandpaper and if possible external sharp edges should be rounded to approx 3-5mm radius.
We strongly recommend that you try a test application prior to starting the project.
Use a brush or roller to apply Treatex External Oak thinly and evenly in the same direction as the wood grain. Pay particular attention to end grain by adding extra oil whilst the finish is still wet. Leave to dry for approximately 12 hours then apply 2 coats of Treatex External Oak Protection.
Please note, images are for guidance only. Different computer screens and printers can greatly influence the perceived colour.
Samples are available and we recommend testing before final application.
