RAPT Projects: Sustainable Renovation, Design, and Management

Recently, we had the pleasure of working with the team at RAPT Projects, supplying them with our natural decorating products. We reached out to learn more about their current projects. Founded by Robbie Forrest, RAPT combines hands-on experience with professional coordination to deliver high-quality renovations.
RAPT Projects specialises in modernising traditional properties by blending construction expertise with design awareness and decorative detail. As a project management company with an in-house team skilled in painting, decorating, and restoration, they focus on Edinburgh’s period properties. Their work combines traditional craftsmanship with modern precision and thorough project oversight.
Robbie Forrest, the founder of RAPT, is a hands-on renovation expert with a background in both design and practical construction. What started as a one-man restoration outfit has grown into a dedicated team delivering full-scale refurbishments of both modern and historic buildings across Edinburgh.
“Our ethos is always to find and use more natural products with lower VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and a smaller carbon footprint. Our commitment to this isn't just professional—it’s personal. Our Director, Robbie, first used sheep’s wool insulation in the renovation of his own home, an 1850's period property. After experiencing the ease of use and superior performance firsthand, we now actively advocate for its use on all suitable RAPT projects.”

In this recent project, the client was very eco-minded and readily adopted the use of more sustainable materials where possible, heeding RAPTs' recommendations. The team had the opportunity to use Cosywool sheep’s wool insulation, which provides excellent thermal and acoustic insulation by trapping air within its fibres. It is also breathable, helping to regulate moisture and improve indoor air quality.

“Working with Cosywool sheep's wool insulation was genuinely a pleasure for the team. We loved that it was non-itchy and didn't require constant masking, which speaks directly to the benefits of using a cleaner, more natural material. Installation was as simple as standard insulation materials, making the whole process efficient and enjoyable.”
The Lime Green Solo Onecoat Lime Plaster was applied to the Savolit Boards. The team noted that Solo Plaster serves as a suitable entry-level material for those new to alternative plasters, such as lime plaster, and for those opting for natural products, as it does not require specialised expertise. After consulting with Ian, the lime specialist here at Celtic Sustainables, Robbie and his team gained the confidence to work with lime plaster. Robbie’s main recommendation is to contact Celtic Sustainables early in the project for assistance with specifications, as we are highly knowledgeable and supportive in guiding the selection of the best natural materials for your space.
“Celtic Sustainables is an invaluable resource for sourcing the highest quality natural materials and staying current with the newest sustainable products on the market.”

Eco-Friendly Practices at RAPT Projects
Building sustainably is a core priority for RAPT Projects. They are advocates for using materials like those featured in this article, ensuring their projects are not only beautifully executed but also healthier for the occupants and kinder to the planet.
They focus on recycling wherever possible, often repurposing and restoring old timber. There is deep satisfaction in using a property’s original materials, lovingly restoring them, and giving them another few lifetimes of use. It is a key part of their conservation philosophy.
Thorough preparation is paramount. Before installing insulation, they ensure a spotlessly clean workspace, removing all debris from cavities. This meticulous approach guarantees maximum insulation efficiency by preventing anything from compromising the material. The final essential step is always precise sizing and measuring (So there is no waste!); in their line of work, preparation is everything.
The bathroom renovation looks fantastic, and we believe the customers are very happy with the final result. We look forward to seeing what other projects Robbie and the team undertake and to support them in future endeavours and product specifications. Wishing you all the best, Team RAPT!
