A liquid primer for use before applying Silicate Masonry Paint.  Can be used as a primer for absorbent surfaces.

You apply one coat of this primer, followed by a first coat of Earthborn Silicate Masonry Paint diluted with 10-20% primer. Lastly, apply an undiluted top coat of Earthborn Silicate Masonry Paint.

The surface should be touch dry after 1 hour, and approximately 12 hours ought to be left between coats.

Should only be applied to bare, unpainted masonry substrates such as lime plaster, stone, pebbledash, limewash and concrete. The surface should be clean, dry and in a sound condition. If applying to new lime render, allow enough time for the lime to cure as well as dry before applying the silicate masonry paint system. As a rule of thumb we recommend 4 weeks' curing time for every 5mm thickness of render.

Following these simple guidelines and by using a silicate masonry paint will allow your house to breathe, whatever the age of the property, following these simple guidelines will result in a long lasting durable finish that is highly breathable.

Further Information

Can I use this Silicate Primer over conventional painted surfaces?

No, the Silicate Primer just won't "bond" to previously painted surfaces. However, Earthborn Silicate Masonry Paint can now be applied over conventional ‘plastic’ masonry paints with the use of Earthborn's new Bonding Primer. Which means you can get a totally colour co-ordinated look for all your buildings! Note though, the Bonding Primer is not breathable.
