How can we help you during Energy Saving Week 2026?
Posted by Sarah, Celtic Sustainables on 13th Jan 2026
Energy Saving Week is approaching, and it’s much needed! After Christmas, the struggle is real, and like most of the nation, we're feeling the pinch. The recent cold snap only reminds us of the importance of making those small home upgrades we've been postponing. Nothing like cold weather to motivate action!
From January 19 to January 25, 2026, Energy Saving Week encourages homeowners to prioritise insulation and energy-efficient products to save money and improve comfort. Held during the coldest part of the year when energy bills tend to spike, this week aims to raise awareness about fuel poverty and practical solutions to stay warm without breaking the bank.
The week is packed with events aimed at raising awareness about strategies to help people save money. Campaigns by Citizens Advice and local councils help households reduce energy use, cut costs, and stay warm by improving home insulation and using efficient products. We’re here to help, too! Although it’s a tough sell—spending money to save money—these products genuinely help save you money over time. Here’s a breakdown:
How our eco-friendly products help you save long-term:
- Eco fans: Super popular Caframo Eco-Fans are small, effective devices and make great gifts. They
distribute heat efficiently, helping you reduce fuel use by up to 18%. These fans have no operating costs, heat up rooms quickly, and do so efficiently. What's not to love about them? - Top up insulation and be comfortable year-round! Topping up insulation saves energy, money and reduces drafts. Adding loft insulation could reduce costs by approximately £223 annually, according to Home Energy Scotland.
- Big shout-out to super SupaSoft insulation! It is our most affordable insulation choice, available for fast nationwide shipping. Working with this insulation is a breeze. It’s non-itchy and easy to install. Leftover pieces can be used to fill holes and seal small drafty areas to block the cold. Check out the fantastic 5-star reviews and see why everyone loves it.
How Electronic Temperature Instruments (ETI) Work to Save Energy:
The ETI Comfort Thermometer is a straightforward monitoring device, not a smart or programmable thermostat that automatically regulates your heating. Its purpose is to give you the information needed to manually optimise energy consumption.
- ETI Comfort Thermometer: Precise Temperature Monitoring - Delivers accurate readings of the room temperature, crucial for determining the necessary heat levels.
- Moisture meters: The ETI Compact Moisture meters help prevent expensive water damage, saving you money. They are specifically designed to measure the moisture content in construction materials such as wood, plaster, and concrete.
How can saving rainwater save money?
It might seem odd to talk about rainwater collection now, amid abundant water supplies since last autumn, but installing a water butt will be beneficial when summer arrives. During droughts and hosepipe bans, you’ll appreciate having stored water! It not only saves your money but also reduces your carbon footprint, conserves resources, and prevents flooding by minimising runoff into storm drains during heavy rain (plus, your plants prefer rainwater).
- Water butts: Collect rainwater now to use later! Buying a water butt is one of the best ways to save water at home, and we currently have some on sale. Check them out!
By choosing energy-efficient products and using them wisely, homeowners and businesses alike can enjoy substantial savings on their energy bills. Plus, it's a wonderful way to help protect our environment for future generations.
Want to really get into saving energy and the planet?
Making a positive difference doesn’t have to mean big lifestyle changes. Sometimes it’s the small, everyday
choices that really add up. Our Quest Toilet Rolls are 100% recycled, plastic-free toilet paper made in the UK from mainly UK wastepaper and proves that sustainability can start at home. Every roll is tree-free, every box is responsibly packaged.
Even better, each roll is wrapped in a biodegradable “World Changing Quest”, offering simple, practical ideas to help you save energy, reduce waste and do your bit for the planet. Small steps, taken together, can create real change.
Save Money on Your Energy Bills: These Little Changes Are Free!
- CHECK YOUR RADIATORS: Cold spots caused by trapped air could mean your radiators aren’t giving out as much heat as they should.
- BOOK IN A BOILER SERVICE: This keeps it working safely and efficiently and keeps your boiler’s warranty valid.
- TAKE SHORTER SHOWERS: Switching to a four-minute shower can save £60 a year! (Savings are for a typical home in Britain.)
- LAUNDRY WASH LOWER AND FEWER: Wash your clothes at 30 °C and run one fewer cycle a week to save £24 a year.
- SAVE WATER: Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth, opt for cold water when washing, and reuse dishwasher water to irrigate your garden plants.

If you can borrow a thermal imaging camera (sometimes available from community schemes), the information you obtain is invaluable. We were just amazed by what we found out about drafts and insulation gaps when we borrowed one. We wrote about it in a Heat Loss in a House blog post: Heat loss in a house - information is power!
We hope this information helps you make better-informed decisions. If you know a friend or neighbour who could benefit from it, please feel free to share. As the cold winter months go on, we wish you comfort and warmth.
