A high-suction surface primer based on Water Glass, designed for effective absorption reduction and breathability. Lime Green's Silic8 PS2 primer is a concentrated liquid that penetrates and stabilises problematic backgrounds, enhancing adhesion for subsequent coatings. Unlike typical primers, PS2 is entirely mineral-based, containing no plastics or emulsions, ensuring zero odours and VOC emissions.
Understanding the importance of breathability, Silic8 PS2 is independently tested for vapour diffusion, guaranteeing that water vapour does not remain within your building's fabric.
Ideal for various substrates, including masonry, cement boards, historic or modern plasters (lime, cement, gypsum), stone, wood, and wood-like boards, terracotta, and certain ceramic tiles and paints. Bond strength testing is available upon request at Lime Green's in-house facility.
Applications
Product uses
- Plaster primer
- Silic8 PS2 is vapour open
- It can be used on all porous surfaces
- Silic8 PS2 is NOT stain blocking
This guidance assumes that PS2 is diluted 1:1 with water.
For alternative uses, please contact Lime Green's technical team or refer to the specific product specifications for your use.
- Apply using a broad brush or a suitable spray applicator. Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from debris before treatment.
- For powdery or fragile surfaces, work the primer into affected areas with a brush.
- For problematic or highly absorbent surfaces, use Silic8 vapour-open primers (MPL1 or MPL2) before applying any new plaster.
- Allow the primer to cure for 2 to 24 hours, depending on usage, temperature, and thickness applied.
- After 24 hours, vapour-open plasters or adhesives can be applied.
- Verify that other products are compatible and appropriate for your project.
Coverage
Test a small area for your coverage rates. On an even surface, 50 grams of diluted PS2 will cover approximately 1m². Allow more for uneven or highly absorbent surfaces.
Preparation
- Ensure substrates are clean, dry, and free of loose debris before application. Always test a small area to confirm compatibility with your materials before full use.
