Brand: Lime Green

Roman Stucco Cast is a fast setting, Traditional mortar for bench cast mouldings. Made with traditional Roman Cement, it has a great level of durability and will weather with a natural stone-like appearance. Roman Stucco Cast can be used to create various masonry features, repair steps and sills or cast embellishments. You can also pour Roman Stucco Cast into moulds to make realistic coping stones and man-made rock features.

Made from burnt limestone and natural sands, rather than resins and acrylics, Roman Stucco Cast can achieve the subtle patinas and matt finishes needed for a natural look. When it is poured into a mould, the casting mortar will quickly set without shrinking, enabling you to recreate fine details and ornate 3-dimensional shapes. And, because it is made from stone, it will weather like stone, enabling you to repair work with like for like natural detail.

Consumption

Approximately 2kg of dry mortar is required per litre. A 25 kg bag yields around 12 litres.

Mixing

To ensure proper mixing, use a drum or paddle mixer, taking care to minimize dust. Gradually add the powder to clean water, not exceeding 4.5 liters per 25kg bag. Mix for 2 to 5 minutes until a pourable slurry forms. Avoid reworking the mixture. Use Roman Stucco within its working time, and do not mix in temperatures below 3ºC or above 25ºC, as it sets quickly and must be used before it begins to harden.

Casting

Pour the mixture into a mold prepared with mold release oil, using vibration to eliminate air bubbles. For large pieces, work green on green and avoid pouring additional product onto a dried, set surface. Allow the casting to cure before demolding. The initial setting time depends on temperature but typically takes 15 to 20 minutes. Demolding times vary based on the shape and complexity of the mold. Shortly after setting begins, Roman Stucco Cast generates significant heat, so very large pieces should be poured carefully to prevent overheating and cracking.

Curing

Prevent from drying out too rapidly, covering with hessian or mortar fleece if necessary. Protect
from frost for at least 7 days after casting.
