Prepare the wood by sanding to no more than 120 grit and the surfaces should be clean and dry. For added protection for areas which are especially wet, we recommend using Osmo WR Base Coat as it helps repel water preventing swelling of the wood and gives additional protection against insects, rot and blue stain. Old paints and lacquers must be completely removed. As a general rule, wear a dust mask during sanding works. Apply thinly with a natural bristle brush or short pile roller, ensure your finishing stroke goes with the grain – any mistake can be corrected up to 15 minutes after application. Ensure that the first coat is thoroughly dry before adding a second coat. (Drying times can vary due to unique conditions).

Maintenance
Areas that have weathered can simply be refreshed by applying a fresh coat. Areas with damage such as scratches can be repaired with a light sanding and re-application of the oil. Osmo Brush Cleaner is ideal for cleaning up after the job is done! (Made of white spirit that is free of aromatic compounds). It is ideal for cleaning tools after applying Osmo wood finishes, oil and artificial resin-based finishes, as well as for thinning solvent-based finishes.
