Lime Green Aerogel Adhesive is a breathable adhesive for use with Limegreens ultrathin AeroGel insulation.
Silic8 AeroGel Adhesive is a water-based mineral adhesive and primer, specially formulated for bonding aerogel fleece, boards, and tiles in building insulation projects. Designed for priming and adhesion on mineral substrates such as historic plaster, stone, bricks, and similar materials, this adhesive ensures a strong, flexible bond. When used with Lime Green's penetrating solutions, AeroGel Adhesive remains capillary and vapor open, promoting breathability.
Certified as non-combustible and vapor permeable, Silic8 AeroGel Adhesive is odor-free, environmentally friendly, and free from biocides, solvents, gypsum, and cement. Its natural mineral and water-glass composition create a durable, flexible, and fire-resistant bond ideal for attaching aerogel fleece insulation to various substrates before plastering and decorating, increasing energy efficiency and thermal protection.
Application
Silic8 AeroGel Adhesive serves two essential functions:
To bond the AeroGel insulation securely to the substrate and to Prime the aerogels surface ready for Solo Onecoat Lime Plaster application.
This adhesive remains vapour-permeable while strongly bonding to various substrates, including historic plaster, stone, brick, and other mineral surfaces. When applied in a full bed, Silic8 AeroGel Adhesive creates an effective air barrier, allowing capillary and vapor permeability to wick away moisture. This helps prevent dampness and rot caused by cold air infiltrating gaps between or behind insulation boards.
For highly porous surfaces, apply Silic8 Penetrating Primer beforehand to reduce suction and stabilise the substrate. Alternatively, dilute the Silic8 AeroGel Adhesive with the penetrating primer (up to 10% dilution) to enhance adhesion and moisture management.
