Navigating the competitive UK insulation market alongside well-established industry leaders has been a challenging yet rewarding endeavour. Recently, we celebrated IndiNature’s accomplishments, including their notable recognition at the Built Environment Smarter Transformation Accelerate to Zero awards, where they received the Circular Economy Award. This prestigious accolade embodies innovation, collaboration, and progress toward a sustainable, net-zero future in construction.

The criteria for the Accelerate to Zero awards:

Over 200 attendees gathered at Oran Mor in Glasgow for the Accelerate to Zero awards, celebrating advancements in zero-carbon construction and honouring achievements across 11 categories. The judges focus on scalable, transformative impacts, innovative use of emerging technology, supply chain involvement, and overcoming challenges. The awards honoured businesses, organisations, and individuals dedicated to decarbonising the built environment.

A positive step toward a more circular building environment.

This indicates a positive trend towards the increased use of natural fibre insulation in healthier, low-carbon buildings. It's encouraging to observe this industry acknowledgement, which highlights the efforts of the IndiNature team and the broader community advocating for material innovation in the built environment.

IndiNature is currently the only UK-grown and made natural fibre insulation to hold a BBA Agreement Certificate

IndiNature is an ideal choice for builders and developers seeking sustainable, high-performance building materials that meet current standards and accommodate a variety of project types.

Having a BBA certification indicates that the company's products meet the highest standards in the UK, providing assurance to architects, builders, and contractors that they are both sustainable and deliver the necessary performance levels. Currently, it is the only UK manufacturer of natural fibre insulation with a full BBA agreement certificate. The company is now equipped to offer a range of unique carbon-negative insulation materials, tested to the highest standards.  

IndiNature is the first natural fibre insulation to be approved by Ofgem for use in ECO4 and the Great British Insulation Scheme.

What does it mean to be Ofgem approved?

Being "Ofgem approved" means a company, service, or product has met the standards and regulations set by the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem), the independent regulator for the energy industry in Great Britain.

• Fully approved for ECO4 and the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS).
• This includes EPC Band D houses, which aren’t normally eligible for funding with typical loft insulation materials.

ECO4 and GBIS are government funded grant schemes aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in UK residences. ECO4 mainly focuses on supporting low-income and vulnerable households, whereas GBIS provides insulation grants for a wider range of households, including middle-income families.

IndiNature hasn't just won the Circular Economy Award; it's also earned other honours.

They were on a roll last year; they also won the Manufacturer of the Year 2025 from the UK Green Business Awards. Recognised for the team’s innovation and positive Impact of better-than-zero carbon hemp insulation – grown and made in the UK.
