X-Tex Artex Remover and Textured Coatings
Very happy with this product. I found that it helps to score the painted Artex with a knife first (deep enough to cut into the Artex below but not into the plaster behind it) I then soaked the wall with water, using a hand spray,15 mins before painting this on. Apply reasonably generously but not too thick (it goes further and only adds a little more elbow grease - see below) For best results, I left it for double the amount of time given in the instructions (about 2 hours); lightly spraying with water using a fine nozzle setting, a couple of times during this period to prevent drying out. Do not over do the water at this point or you will wash the product off! The top layers of paint and texture scraped off very easily. There was some Artex left on the plaster. Rather than recoating this I just sprayed generously with water in small sections as I worked. This cleaned it off perfectly. Washed the wall down later with a plastic scourer to get a dust free plaster ready for the next stage. Working in this way I got a greater area of wall cleaned than on the label - about 25% more. The lack of fumes or caustic effect when the inevitable bits flick onto you if wonderful. There is a slight smell but we all found it quite pleasant ir acceptable at worst! I still use a high filtration mask for safety (recommended - your health is not work the risk!) but there is very little dust at all with this product.
