Here's our guide to lime and new building products.
|
First off, lime is cool, fascinating and incredibly useful for buildings new and old! Learning about how to use lime in your home can be confusing as some lime types have multiple names and functions. However, lime is truly interesting and worth exploring if you are looking to add natural products and finishes to your build. You can find links to our helpful lime guides further
down. For further reading, we recommend "Lime in Building" by Jane Schofield and "Sustainable Legacy" by Cliff Blundell. Both are highly-rated books!

NHL is made from limestone containing naturally occurring impurities. These impurities speed up the setting time and increase the hardness of the resulting lime mortars, renders, and plasters. Unlike Fat Lime, NHL cures in the presence of water, making it ideal for exposed areas. It also sets quicker and has a harder finish than fat lime. NHL is supplied as a dry powder in 3 different strengths - 2, 3.5 and 5.
